Aims of the Projects
- Enable local children to explore the history of their area and understand how change has come about, learning new skills such as using archives, oral history interviewing, photography/filming and exhibition preparation.
- Raise the profile of Sands End and its history by drawing in people who otherwise might not have participated, such as parents who do not normally have time to visit the school, thus helping residents to manage change and feel valued
- Create resources that can be deposited in the Archives and at the school, in order to provide a lasting legacy that will benefit future generations.
- Enable older local residents and other volunteers to record their memories and experience and contribute to an understanding of how the area has developed.
- Give all participants training opportunities, including professional courses in effective filming and web design; an introduction to using archives, provided by the Archives; and learning or improving skills through the project’s activities.
